10 habits of happy couples
Taken from Asiaone.com...
#1 Go to bed at the same time
Remember the early days of your relationship when you couldn’t wait to get into bed with each other to make love? Happy couples resist the temptation to go to bed at different times. They go to bed at the same time, even if one wakes up later to do things while their partner sleeps.
#2 Cultivate common interests
After the passion simmers, it is common to realise that you have few interests in common. Try to home in on those common interests and do things together and enjoy each other's company at the same time. Don’t underestimate the importance of couple activities, however few they are.
If common interests are absent, happy couples take time to develop them. But be sure to cultivate interests of your own; this will make you more interesting to your mate and prevent you from appearing too dependent.
#3 Walk hand in hand or side by side
Rather than one partner lagging or dragging behind the other, happy couples walk comfortably hand in hand or side by side. They know it’s more important to be with their partner than to see the sights along the way.
#4 Make trust and forgiveness a default mode
Whenever there is a misunderstanding or when two cannot agree on an issue, do you bear grudges and build up ammunition against each other?
Refrain from doing that as it only makes solving problems difficult.
If a disagreement or an argument cannot be resolved, happy couples default to trusting and forgiving and reset the relationship from there, instead of keeping count of faults.
#5 Focus more on what your partner does right than what he or she does wrong
If you look for things your partner does wrong, you can always find something. If you look for what he or she does right, you can always find something, too. It all depends on what you want to look out for and focus on. Happy couples accentuate the positive and affirm that in each other.
#6 Hug each other as soon as you see each other after work
Our skin has a memory of “good touch” (loved), “bad touch” (abused) and “no touch” (neglected).
Couples who say hello with a hug keep their skin bathed in the “good touch” can inoculate your spirit against anonymity in the world. One is reassured of love and belonging.
#7 Say “I love you” and “Have a good day” every morning
This is a great way to buy some patience and tolerance as each partner sets out each day to battle traffic jams, long lines and other annoyances.
#8 Say “Good night” every night, regardless of how you feel
This tells your partner that, regardless of how upset you are with him or her, you still want to be in the relationship. It says that what you and your partner have is bigger than any single upsetting incident.
#9 Do a “weather” check during the day
Call your partner at home or at work to see how his or her day is going. This is a great way to adjust expectations so that you’re more in sync when you connect after work. For instance, if your partner is having a lousy day, it might be unreasonable to expect him or her to be enthusiastic about something good that happened to you.
#10 Be proud to be seen with your partner
Happy couples are pleased to be seen together and are often in some kind of affectionate contact - hand on hand or hand on shoulder or back. They are not showing off but rather just saying that they belong with each other.
The worst thing to do is to forget to introduce your partner when you bump into a friend or colleague when you're out about town. This sends the wrong signal to your partner that he is not your significant other and you are embarrassed to show him or her off to others.
Happy couples have different habits than unhappy couples.
A habit is a discrete behaviour that you do automatically and that takes little effort to maintain. All it takes is 21 days of daily repetition of a new behaviour so that it becomes a habit. So select one of the behaviours in the list above to work on proactively for 21 days to cultivate a habit that will make you happier as a couple.
And if you fall off the wagon, don’t despair, just apologise to your partner, ask their forgiveness and recommit yourself to getting back in the habit.

Focus on spending more time, Not money, on things you enjoy.
As we prioritize the things that are important to us, you'd think the things we spend the most money on would get the bulk of our attention. That's often not the case, and recognizing this is a step toward serious savings.
Trent, the personal finance blogger over at The Simple Dollar, says one way to figure out how to budget your time is keep a log of how much time you spend doing things you want and need to do. At the same time, track how you spend your money. Compare the lists at the end of one month and see if there are any areas where you're spending a lot of money, but not a lot of time. That's probably an area where you need to trim your spending.
For instance, if you're dropping $75 a month on a health club that you only visit once in a blue moon, that's some wasted cash right there. Instead consider channeling that money into the areas of your life where you spend the bulk of your time and, presumably, bring you the most satisfaction. Love to cook? Invest in a good set of pots and pans. Enjoy reading into the wee hours of the night? Get a comfy chair and a great book light. Over time, you may discover your spending habits are dwindling.
Quite often, areas of your life where you spend a lot of time without spending a lot of money are the areas that truly bring you the most enjoyment because you don't require a constant influx of new things to be able to enjoy yourself. I argue that those are the areas of your life that you should accentuate, while learning to let go of the areas that offer much less bang for the buck.
What brings you the most enjoyment? Trying outnew gadgets, learning a new skill, or something else? And does your spending reflect it? Share in the comments.

Things girls don't realize....
1. Guys are more emotional than you think, if they loved you at one point, it'll take them a lot longer than you think to let you go, and it hurts every second that they try.
2. Guys may be flirting around all day, but before they go to sleep, they always think about the girl they truly care about.
3. Guys go crazy over a girl's smile.
4. Guys will do anything just to get you to notice him.
5. Guys hate it when you talk about your ex-boyfriend or ex love-interest. Unless they're going for the let-her-complain-to-you-and-then-have-her-realize-how-wonderful-and-nice-you-are method.
6. A guy who likes you wants to be the only guy you talk to.
7. Boyfriends need to be reassured often that they're still loved.
8. Guys don't care how gorgeous you are, if you're a bitch Goodbye.
9. Giving a guy a hanging message like 'You know what?!..uh...nevermind..' would make him jump to a conclusion that is far from what you are thinking. And he'll assume he did something wrong and he'll obsess about it trying to figure it out.
10. Girls are guys' weaknesses.
11. Guys are very open about themselves.
12. If a guy tells you about his problems, he just needs someone to listen to him. You don't need to give advice.
13. A usual act that proves that the guy likes you is when he teases you.
14. Guys love you more than you love them.
15. Guys use words like hot or cute to describe girls. They rarely use beautiful or gorgeous. If a guy uses that, he loves you or likes you a whole hell of a lot.
16. No matter how much guys talk about butts and boobs, personality is key.
17. Guys worry about the thin line between being compassionate and being whipped.
18. Guys think WAY too much. One small thing a girl does, even if she doesn't notice it can make the guy think about it for hours, trying to figure out what it meant.
19. If the guy does something stupid in front of the girl, he will think about it for the next couple days or until the next time he spends time with the girl.
20. If a guy looks unusually calm and laid back, he's probably faking it and is spazzing inside.
21. When a guy says he is going crazy about the girl, he really is. Guys rarely say that.
22. When a guy asks you to leave him alone, he's just actually saying, 'Please come and listen to me.'
23. ,b>If a guy starts to talk seriously, listen to him. It doesn't happen that often, so when it does, you know something's up.
24. When a guy tells you that you are beautiful, don't say you aren't. It makes them want to stop telling you because they don't want you to disagree with them.
25. When a guy looks at you for longer than a second, he's definitely thinking something.
26. A guy has more problems than you can see with your naked eyes.
27. Don't be a snob. Guys can be intimidated and give up easily.
28. Guys talk about girls more than girls talk about guys.
29. Guys really think that girls are strange and have unpredictable decisions and are MAD confusing but somehow are drawn even more to them.
30. A guy would give his right nut to be able to read a girl's mind for a day.
31. No guy can handle all his problems on his own. He's just too stubborn to admit it.
32. Not all guys are jerks. Just because ONE is a jackass doesn't mean he represents ALL of them.
33. They love it when girls talk about their boobs. haha it's true..
34. When a guy hits your butt it means that he wants you sexually
35. Even if they refuse it all guys are ticklish on the ribs.
36. Guys love neck rubs and if he lets you keep doing it ..it means that he really likes you or his neck really hurts.
37. When a guy sacrifices his sleep and health just to be with you, he really likes you and wants to be with you as much as possible.
38. Even if you dump a guy months ago and he loved you he probably still does and if he had one wish it would be you to come back into his life.

Enjoy happiness for a lifetime – help someone
Taken from Mypaper-26/03/09, Article by Geoff Tan
HAPPINESS is a prime-time pursuit for many of us and we strive to unearth this feel-good “endorphin” in a myriad of ways. Some of us get this natural high by building up a loving and cohesive family. Others do it by putting their hearts and souls into establishing ultra-successful careers. Yet there are those who experience extreme joy when they excel in a sport or an area of interest which they are passionate about. Then, there is a group of people out there who see beyond themselves and is happiest when serving the less fortunate and giving back to the community. Different strokes for different folks, you might say?
Consider the Chinese saying, “If you want happiness for an hour – take a nap. If you want happiness for a day – go fishing. If you want happiness for a year – inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime – help someone else.”
This implies that happiness can be experienced and embraced in both transient and sustainable forms. It can be achieved by doing things to enhance our personal well-being, or by going out into the world and doing things that benefit others.
Well-known deaf-blind American author Helen Keller wrote: “Happiness cannot come from without. It must come from within. It is not what we see and touch or that which others do for us which makes us happy; it is that which we think and feel and do, first for the other fellow, and then for ourselves.”
Happiness is a state of mind that resides deep within us. When we first meet someone, we unconsciously form an impression of them, albeit one very much on the surface level. In many cases, however, what you see may not be the reality.
A story is told about a man who saw a psychologist and said to him: “Doctor, I always feel depressed. No matter what I do, I still feel depressed and just don’t know what to do.” The psychologist pointed outside and said: “There is a clown in particular who is extremely funny. He will make you rock with laughter over and over again. Go and watch that clown and I guarantee you will not have any reason to be depressed again!” The man turned to the psychologist with sad eyes and said: “Doctor, I am that clown!”
I am at times guilty of worrying too much about too many things that are still very distant. Time and again, I have to be reminded to live for the moment. I realize that when I do this, the things which I have been so paranoid about either do not unfold or get resolved in time.
A poem I stumbled upon recently puts it succinctly: “Today is the tomorrow I worried about yesterday. And today was such a lovely day. That I wondered why I worried about today yesterday. So today I am not going to worry about tomorrow. There may not be a tomorrow anyway. So today I am going to live as if there is no tomorrow. And I am going to forget about yesterday.”
Take heart, my friends – happiness does not necessarily have to come from striving for something we don’t have. It can come from recognizing and appreciating what we do.

Life is like building a house
A story is told of an old elderly builder who was ready to retire. His boss was sorry to see him go and asked him to build one more house as a favour to him. Although the builder say yes, his heart was not in his work and he turned in shoddy workmanship.
when he was done, his boss came and gave him the keys of the front door, saying " This is your house, my gift to you."
If the builder had known he was building his own house, he would have given his best. Just as to sleep in the bed you made, the builder had to live with the consequences of his poor effort.
Regret will not bring back opportunity. You can only chalk it up as a lesson and not repeat it.
Life is very much like building a house. Every phase we live through is akin to part of the construction. Delivering consistent good work ensures a well-built house that you can cherish forever.

Regret will not bring back opportunity. You can only chalk it up as a lesson and not repeat it.
Life is very much like building a house. Every phase we live through is akin to part of the construction. Delivering consistent good work ensures a well-built house that you can cherish forever.

Money.. Is it All?
MONEY
It can buy a House
But not a Home
It can buy a Bed
But not Sleep
It can buy a Clock
But not Time
It can buy you a Book
But not Knowledge
It can buy you a Position
But not Respect
It can buy you Medicine
But not Health
It can buy you Blood
But not Life
It can buy you Sex
But not Love
So you see money isn't everything.
And it often causes pain and suffering.
I tell you all this because I am your Friend, and as your Friend I want to take away your pain and suffering......So send me all your money and I will suffer for you.
CASH ONLY PLEASE!

REAL FRIEND TEST!
A simple friend, when visiting, acts like a guest.
A real friend opens your refrigerator and helps himself
and doesn't feel even the least bit weird shutting your
'beer/Pepsi drawer' with her foot!
A simple friend has never seen you cry.
A real friend's shoulder is soggy from your tears..
A simple friend brings a bottle of wine to your
party.
A real friend comes early to help you cook and
stays late to help you clean.
A simple friend hates it when you call after
they've gone to bed.
A real friend asks you why you took so long to
call.
A simple friend seeks to talk with you about your
problems.
A real friend seeks to help you with your problems.
A simple friend wonders about your romantic
history.
A real friend could blackmail you with it!
A simple friend thinks the friendship is over when
you have an argument.
A real friend calls you after you had a fight.
A simple friend expects you to always be there for
them.
A real friend expects to always be there for you!
A simple friend reads this e-mail and deletes it.
A real friend passes it on and sends it back to you!
Pass this on to anyone you care about....if you
get it back you have no beginning, no end.
It keeps us together, like our Circle of Friends.
Today I pass this on to you. Pass it on to someone
who is a friend to you..
INSTANTLY WHEN YOU RECEIVE THIS LETTER, YOU'RE
REQUESTED TO SEND IT
TO AT LEAST 10 PEOPLE, INCLUDING THE PERSON WHO
SENT IT TO YOU.
When you are down to nothing ...
God is up to something.
'Never frown, even when you are sad,
because you never know who is
falling in love with your smile. '

A lesson Learnt... From My Papers
A farmer's donkey fell into a well. The animal cried while the farmer tried to figure out what to do. finally, he decided that the animal was too old and the well needed to be covered up anyway. He asked his neighbours to help him shovel dirt into the well. Upon realising what was happening, the donkey wailed horribly. Then, to everyone's surprise, it quietened down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer looked into the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that hit its back, the donkey would shake it off and take a step up. This continued as more and more dirt was shovelled into the well. Finally, to everyone's amazement, the donkey stepped over the well and trotted off happily.
Each of our troubles represent a stepping stone. The trick to getting out of a deep hole is to look on the positive side of things; never give up, shake off the dirt, and take a step up. Happy climbing!
Life is going to shovel all kinds of dirt on you....

From the Last Lecture...
Brick walls are there for a reason: they let us prove how badly we want things.
"We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand."
"Right we are going to work on those 21 people who doesn't touch football." -Fundementals
When you screw up and nobody say anything to you anymore, that mean they gave up.
"Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted."
"Most of what we learn, we learn indirectly..."
"The best salesmen in the world is those who sells education."
"You cant get there alone, and I believe in Karma."
Be good at something: it makes you valuable.
Work hard... "what's your secret?"
Find the best in everybody; no matter how you have to wait for them to show it
Be prepared: "luck" is where preparation meets opportunity.
When a Guy likes a Girl, Dun listen to wat he say, see wat he does...
Tell the truth | be earnest | apologize when you screw up
focus on others, not yourself
ITS NOT ABOUT HOW YOU ACHIEVE YOUR DREAMS, ITS HOW YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE.
IF YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE THE RIGHT WAY, KARMA WILL TAKE CARE OF ITSELF, THE DREAMS WILL COME TO YOU

There is a time to
There is.......
A time to write,
A time to listen,
A time to learn,
A time to play,
A time to read,
A time to see,
A time to lead,
A time to sleep,
A time to be happy,
A time to be mad,
A time to be silly,
A time to be sad.
A time to wake,
A time to stay,
A time to talk,
A time to walk.
A time to help,
A time to hurt,
A time to scheme,
A time to dream,
A time to make a difference,
A time to love,
A time to try,
A time to die
A time to wonder,
A time to want,
A time to live,
A time to do something.
There is always going to be a time,
But will you do something when that time comes?

Something for me to think about...
"Being in love is what makes working all week bearable. It makes cruising with your windows rolled down feel like you're riding in a convertible. It makes you dance to the rythm of the copy machine and makes Friday night really feel like THE WEEKEND."
"Before I sleep and after I wake up and all the hours in between ... you occupy my mind. So, practically every moment of the day you are in my thoughts. I miss you."

The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 Cups of Coffee
When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee.
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous 'yes.'
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
'Now,' said the professor as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things---God, your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions---and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.
The sand is everything else---the small stuff. 'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
'Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first---the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. 'I'm glad you asked.
It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.'
